Our bodies and minds are not separate. When we feel stressed, our muscles get tight. When we feel overwhelmed, our breathing changes. At Mend & Extend, we help you work with both.

We offer more than just a standard yoga class. Our studio is a space to explore how movement can calm your nervous system and help you regulate your emotions. Whether you want to stretch out the day's tension in a General Yoga class or join our Anxiety Toolkit 6-week course to learn how to soothe your mind, we are here to support you.

From the quiet depth of 1-1 psychotherapy to the community and energy of our Morning Movement Club, you can choose what feels right for you today.

Our group sessions range from active movement to deep, somatic (body-based) healing. You can:

Meet our founder

Qualified. Experienced. Welcoming.

Hi, I’m Jo Cook. I am a fully qualified psychotherapist and a yoga teacher with nearly twenty years of experience. Mend & Extend is the result of my lifelong passion for understanding how our minds and bodies heal together.

A Professional, Integrated Approach

I believe that professional standards are vital. I am qualified to Post-Graduate level and accredited by the BACP, BPS, and EMDR UK. While I have thousands of hours of experience in 1-1 clinical therapy, I also bring 18 years of experience as a yoga teacher.

Because I have taught movement for nearly two decades and practiced yoga for over 30 years, I don’t just "teach poses." I have a deep, practical understanding of how the body stores stress and how movement can be used as a tool for recovery. My work is evidence-based, combining proven methods like EMDR and talking therapy with somatic (body) movement to help you feel grounded and safe.

A Space for the Community

I have created a beautiful, healing space in Cockermouth where my clinical training meets my movement expertise. Whether you are looking for deep therapeutic work or a supportive group class, my goal is to provide a safe, welcoming path toward feeling whole.
